STEM Students collaborating in the classroom

STEM Education in Northside ISD

Northside ISD’s STEM Education program provides students with hands-on, real-world learning experiences that integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Through inquiry-based instruction, problem solving, and design thinking, students develop critical thinking and collaboration skills that prepare them for future academic and career success.

At the elementary level, each campus has a dedicated STEM lab where students participate in activities and design challenges that spark curiosity and creativity using knowledge from classroom instruction and tied to a variety of STEM careers.

STEM Education at Colonies North ES

The STEM lab facilitates at Colonies North promotes the learning experience by encouraging exploratory problem-solving using the 4 C’s collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity. Every student in K-5 will experience hands-on problem-based learning, engineering, robotics, and coding projects throughout the year.

Students use blended learning in differentiated inspiration stations in which collaborative teams have choices such as building roller coasters and robots, creating 3-D structures, and inspiring each other through creative play, with the emphasis on social and emotional engagement.

Students are also encouraged to use technology throughout the year to analyze and solve real-world problems. Students can choose which activities inspire their interests and encourage them to think outside the box.
