Opportunities Inside & Outside the Classroom
In Northside ISD, - Our mission and everything we do, is to help our children succeed. For us, it’s all about our students. That means encouraging a love of reading and assuring them that they can conquer math and science problems. It is also by safely transporting our students to school and providing them a delicious meal for breakfast and lunch. Our Northside schools provide safe spaces for students to laugh with their friends or find their love of art, dance or tennis, by surrounding them with people like you, caring adults who want them to succeed. We want you to bring your talents, knowledge and passion to Northside. We firmly believe it's not hard to find your passion… or your "WHY" when you love what you do. In NISD we have more than 100-thousand reasons why to love your job.
Benefits & Incentives
One of the main goals of the Human Resources Department is to recruit, retain and reward qualified applicants to fill hundreds of professional, classified/auxiliary, temporary/seasonal and substitute positions. We do this by providing a comprehensive program of benefits and wellness incentives for our employees in addition to a competitive compensation package.
Work-Life Balance Program/EAP
Northside ISD, through Aetna, provides a free comprehensive resource for employees and their families for achieving balance with work and their personal lives. It provides help with workplace stress and family issues such as parenting, education, aging, financial and legal questions, addiction and recovery and emotional health.
Early Childhood Collaboration Program
Northside ISD offers a tuition-based preschool program for children of employees on several elementary campuses within the district. The children must be three or four years of age by September 1st of the current school year to participate. The program is an inclusive preschool with both early childhood certified and special education certified teachers. The curriculum offers a wealth of developmentally appropriate experiences for young children planned to incorporate TEA's Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines.
Employee Discounts at Community Businesses
The Northside ISD School-Business-Community Partnerships Department makes it possible for Northside ISD employees to receive discounts for products and services with local businesses. Discounts for health clubs, automobile insurance, cellular phones, area childcare and many others are available. A complete listing of "Partnership Perks" is available on the Partnerships web site.

Why choose Northside ISD?
Kindergarten teacher at Fields ES
“I choose Northside because I feel like it's a great place to be. I’ve been here 20 years and I feel that I’ve learned so much through not only professional development but through my colleagues and having great leaders. I feel like they always strive to be the best, to keep improving, to keep getting better. And I feel like that’s what makes this a great place to work.”
“It’s a very rewarding job. Safety always comes first and it is very rewarding when you pull to the students’ stop, and watch them head home safe and sound. You know you’ve done your job.”
“I want to make a difference in somebody’s life. Young people today, you hear about all the negative about them. But I’ve run across some great young people from high school to middle school. It’s a rewarding career. If I had my way, I’d probably stay here forever.”
Librarian at Sul Ross MS
“There’s something so special about Ross MS. We focus on the work and what’s best for our kids. It’s easy to do great things when you’re in a great school district.”
“I would encourage any recent college graduate or someone looking for a full-time teaching job to apply to be a substitute teacher. It’s a great way to get to know a school district and make some contacts before committing to a contract.”
Sotomayor HS Head Football Coach
“I truly love Northside. It brings everyone together. It takes care of our faculty. It takes care of our students and most of all it puts together our community. It creates a sense of family, a sense of trust and most of all a sense of love.”
