A.L.E. Peer Buddies are 5th grade students who have the opportunity to change the life of another student in a meaningful, lasting way.  By being a Peer Buddy, you’ll have the opportunity to model and teach “good buddy behaviors” to our special needs population. These behaviors include teaching your buddies social skills that follow our Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship

As an A.L.E. Peer Buddy, you will commit to mentor throughout the school year. You will be taught how to be a buddy by a passionate, experienced professional who will inspire you and teach you all the skills you’ll need.  We’ll make your experience as fun as possible. You will have the opportunity to come visit your buddy at least once a week (during your recess time) and you’ll get to attend our Northside ISD Special Olympics events to help your buddy compete!

You’ll be amazed by how much fun you’re having while learning and teaching!  Fifth grade students must apply for this position by filling out an application. The applications are then reviewed and a select group of students are chosen. There are no after school meetings.
