(On the Cover) Community Education offers Adventures in Learning: Community Education's After-School Enrichment Program recently held an open house, which allowed students and families to experience many hands-on activities offered during the after-school program, such as art, chess, drones, STEM, drama, yoga, music, cooking, and coding -- as well as win a multitude of raffle prizes, as pictured by these happy recipients.
And the Spirit Stick goes to ...
The students and staff at the Enrichment Academy at Westwood Terrace Elementary School are the recipients of this week's Unstoppable Spirit Stick. NISD has two Enrichment Academies, a unique and innovative school year model that provides students with an additional 29 days of enriched instruction through engaging, hands-on activities.
CELEBRATIONS
Harlan High School Coach Eddie Salas is known for being an โunstoppableโ coach and teacher, always reaching new heights for his students. But recently, he fought a battle, not on the football field, but with a medical issue, and his grit, determination, and faith saw him to the goal line.
HELPFUL RESOURCES
Partnering for Digital Safety: Your Role in SCOPE Act Compliance
In our ongoing commitment to student safety, Northside ISD is focused on meeting the requirements of the Securing Children Online Through Parental Empowerment (SCOPE) Act, which mandates strong protections against harmful content and data vulnerabilities. Our goal is to create a secure digital environment that enables students to learn and thrive.
Our multi-layered strategy begins with filters to ensure all students access only age-appropriate content. We also implement a thorough vetting process for all digital tools used in the classroom. This process is centered around securing a Data Privacy Agreement (DPA) with each vendor. These DPAs are vital to our approval process, and decisions are based on the partnership between NISD and the vendors themselves. This careful approach ensures that we safeguard student data at every step.
You can help by being a vital partner in maintaining this safe and compliant environment by:
- Use Approved Tools: Before using any new digital tool in your lessons, please check our comprehensive approved-applications website for a list of all approved applications
- Teach Digital Citizenship: Actively promote safe online practices with your students, and instruct them on the importance of digital citizenship. Please monitor your classroom and report any concerns you may have.
- Stay Informed: To stay current, regularly review our district policies on digital safety and privacy, which are available on Employee Connections.
- Communicate with Parents: Keep parents and guardians informed about the digital tools you integrate into your lessons.
Your partnership in this effort is critical to our success. Please click here for more information on how Northside ISD is protecting students online.
