New this upcoming school year
To ensure smooth, reliable bus transportation for the 2026–2027 school year, eligible families must register their students in advance.
Northside ISD provides school bus transportation for students who live more than two miles from their assigned neighborhood campus. Students residing within the two-mile walk zone are generally not eligible unless their route includes a Board-approved Hazardous Traffic Condition.
Families new to Northside ISD may register for bus service during the New Student Registration process. Currently enrolled families can sign up during the Returning Student Registration, which began on March 16.
To guarantee transportation on the first day of school, all eligible students – new and returning – must register by June 30.
Bus transportation for eligible special education and magnet school students will be scheduled separately.

Starting next school year, Google Assignments will be created using a new process. Google has released an updated Schoology app called Google Assignments, which all Schoology customers will adopt. Beginning in the 2026–2027 school year, this will be the new way for assigning Google work in Schoology, as the previous app will be retired. Here are some resources to assist you in this transition.

NISD drivers take the wheel to earn top honors at "Road-e-o"
NISD bus drivers put their skills to the test at the Central Texas Regional School Bus Safety Roadeo, a competition designed to mirror the real-world challenges they navigate every day. Drivers maneuver full-size school buses through a series of obstacle courses that assess precision, safety, and control.
Beyond the bragging rights, top performers earn a coveted trophy belt buckle.
Three NISD regular education bus drivers competed, with Juan Ramirez earning first place for Region 20 and being named Grant Champion for the combined Central Texas regions (Regions 13 and 20).
In the special needs division, two NISD teams competed, with Linda McNeely and Ana Arguello placing second in Region 20.
Both winning teams will advance to the TAPT Roadeo at Sheldon ISD on April 25.
NISD artists paint to music for a win
Congratulations to all of our Northside students who participated in the Paint to Music event sponsored by the San Antonio Symphony League. Northside ISD had several winners for this event.
A special congratulations to Leilani Arana, a fourth grader at Kallison Elementary, for winning not only a Best of Show, but also the League's President's Pick. Leilani's art was professionally framed, and she was recognized at the Alamo City Arts' Symphony Viva Concert. Her art teacher is Valerie Martinez. Click here to view the complete list of winners.
