STEM Education in Northside ISD
Northside ISD’s STEM Education program provides students with hands-on, real-world learning experiences that integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Through inquiry-based instruction, problem solving, and design thinking, students develop critical thinking and collaboration skills that prepare them for future academic and career success.
At the elementary level, each campus has a dedicated STEM lab where students participate in activities and design challenges that spark curiosity and creativity using knowledge from classroom instruction and tied to a variety of STEM careers.

STEM Education at Wanke ES
The NISD STEM curriculum emphasizes problem solving, teamwork and design skills. While we still focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, we also introduce the design process to students. This is incorporated throughout the year's curriculum with project based learning. Students collaborate to solve a common problem, build and design structures for specific needs. Students are also exposed to STEM related careers, such as Civil, Environmental & Mechanical Engineers, Cyber Security & Health Science. And lastly, our coding unit introduces block coding skills to all students using computers and robotics. STEM offers enriching opportunities for students to create & use their imagination!
