Melissa Spiekerman - Principal
My name is Melissa Spiekerman and I am honored to be the Principal at Blattman Elementary School. This is my fifth year as a Black Bear, and I could not be more proud! Every single day, I have the privilege to work with such an amazing group of students, families, staff and community. At Blattman, we believe in doing what is best for every single student.
I graduated from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos and received my post baccalaureate Teacher Certification from UTSA. In 2016, I graduated from UTSA with my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Go Roadrunners!
I am proud to have served NISD for over 17 years. During that time, I have built relationships with numerous colleagues, families, community members, and especially students which have helped create and drive my passion to serve each of them. I have served our Blattman community as an Associate Principal and continue to serve our community as our Principal.
Spending time with my family is very important and sacred to me. We love to be outside, work with our cattle, garden, go fishing, travel to new places and simply enjoy our time together as a family creating new memories that will last a lifetime.
I look forward to working together with our Black Bear community this school year! It is true what they say, everything is Better at Blattman!

Hi Blattman Black Bears!
My name is Carrie Lewis and I’m excited to serve the staff, students and community at Blattman Elementary as your Associate Principal! This will be my 18th year in education and my 17th year in Northside. I received my Bachelors in Music education and my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from UTSA. I began my career in Northside at Steubing Elementary as a Music teacher. In 2017, I was honored to open Kallison Elementary as a music teacher and eventually moved into 1st grade. I started my administrative journey in 2022 at Martin Elementary as an Admin Intern and in the Spring of 2023 I was named Associate Principal here at Blattman. I am excited to serve the community and the families at Blattman this year!
I am a wife and mom of two amazing boys who attend Northside Schools!
It is my strong belief that all children are unique and must have a stimulating environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. It is my desire to create this type of atmosphere where students can meet their full potential.
