Melissa Spiekerman - Principal
My name is Melissa Spiekerman, and I am honored to serve as the Principal of Patricia J. Blattman Elementary School. This school year marks my seventh year serving the Blattman community, and I could not be more proud to be a Black Bear. Every day, I have the privilege of working alongside amazing students, dedicated staff, supportive families, and caring community partners. At Blattman, we are committed to doing what is best for every student, every single day.
I earned my bachelor's degree from Southwest Texas State University and later completed my post-baccalaureate teacher certification through The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). In 2016, I earned my Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from UTSA. Go Roadrunners!
I am proud to have served Northside ISD for 20 years. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to build lasting relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community members, all of which continue to inspire my passion for education and servant leadership. I was honored to serve the Blattman community as Associate Principal and am grateful to continue serving our students and families as your Principal.
My husband, Stephen, and I are the proud parents of five children—three boys and two girls. Our three oldest children, ages 24 to 26, are thriving in their careers, and we are incredibly proud of the adults they have become. Our two youngest children still keep us busy! Our daughter, Abby, is a sophomore at Texas A&M University in College Station, where she is majoring in Agricultural Leadership and Development. Our youngest, Weston, is a senior in high school and loves playing golf—whether it's with his school team or any chance he gets.
As a family, we love spending time outdoors. Whether we're working with our cattle at our farm, gardening, fishing, traveling to new places, or simply enjoying quality time together, we cherish every opportunity to make memories that will last a lifetime.
I look forward to partnering with our students, families, staff, and community as we make this school year another outstanding one. Together, we will continue to ensure that every child thrives because it's true what they say—Everything is Better at Blattman!
