I feel that character building is a key component for children. When we instill these values in them at an early age, it becomes their normal, daily behavior. It is important that we are teaching our children to have grit and perseverance. We want to instill in our children that when things get difficult or we fail, we must keep trying until we succeed. As adults, children are always looking at how we respond, so it is important to model positive behaviors for children. In addition to the academics, we do have a school wide focus on building character. We utilize NISD's 6 Pillars of Character, along with the Quantum 8 Keys of Excellence.
Please know that I have an open door policy. Being a parent myself, no concern is ever too small. My philosophy is that it takes the school, student, and parents all working together in order for a child to reach their fullest potential. I do ask that you start with the classroom teacher if you have a concern. They often have more information and details regarding concerns since they are with the children all day.
