Overview of the Selection Process:

  1. Eligible students will receive an invitation through their NISD student email during the spring semester (typically in February) to complete a Candidate Information Form.
    • To be considered eligible, students must meet the following criteria:
      • Be a current Warren High School sophomore or junior.
      • Have a cumulative GPA of 90.000 or higher.
      • Have attended Warren High School for at least one semester.
  2. The Candidate Information Form must be submitted by the established deadline to be considered for membership.
  3. Completed Candidate Information Forms will be reviewed by the Faculty Council, which consists of five faculty members appointed by the principal. The NHS chapter adviser serves as the sixth, nonvoting, ex officio member. During the review process, the Faculty Council evaluates each candidate based on the four pillars of the National Honor Society: scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
  4. Membership is determined by a majority vote of the Faculty Council. This review process typically takes place in March.
  5. Students will be notified of their selection or non-selection through their NISD student email, typically by the first week of April.
  6. Accepted candidates will attend the official NHS Induction Ceremony in late April, where they will be formally inducted and receive their membership certificates.

Note: Students who transfer to Warren High School and are current members in good standing of the National Honor Society chapter at their previous school may transfer their membership to the Warren High School chapter. To do so, students must contact the NHS adviser within one semester of transferring to Warren High School.
