College, Career, and Military Readiness

In Northside ISD, we believe all students deserve a quality education that prepares them to be engaged, successful citizens during high school and beyond. Through daily, rich learning opportunities, we equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to be ready for their future โ€” whether that path leads to college, a career, or the military.

What is College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR)?

College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) is a measure used by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to determine whether a student is prepared for post-secondary opportunities, including college, career, or the military.

Students may demonstrate readiness through multiple pathways:

College Ready Photo
College Readiness

Students demonstrate college readiness through success in testing and/or advanced coursework.

Career Readiness Photo
Career Readiness

Students demonstrate career readiness by completing a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program of Study and earning aligned Industry-Based Certifications.

 Military Readiness Photo
Military Readiness

Students demonstrate military readiness by:

  • Enlisting in the U.S. Armed Forces after graduation (Class of 2026), or
  • Completing four years of JROTC and achieving a passing score on the ASVAB (Class of 2027 and beyond)

CCMR and Special Education Services

A graduate receiving Special Education Services may achieve CCMR by meeting any of the College, Career, and/or Military Readiness indicators above or through one of the following pathways:

  • Graduate with the Foundations High School Plan with an Endorsement
  • Graduate with a completed IEP and demonstrate Workforce Readiness

How Can Students Prepare?

Prepare for College
  • Enroll in advanced courses such as Advanced Placement (AP), Dual Credit, or OnRamps to potentially earn college credit
  • Prepare for college admission and readiness tests
  • Research colleges and universities with degree programs aligned to personal interests
Prepare for a Career
  • Complete a coherent sequence of Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses
  • Earn aligned Industry-Based Certifications
  • Enroll in advanced CTE courses that may offer college credit
Prepare for the Military
  • Participate in ROTC or JROTC programs
  • Take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)
  • Talk with military recruiters to learn about the different branches of service
  • Enlist in the U.S. Armed Forces

How Do I Help My Child Become Future Ready?

  • Talk with your child about current interests and long-term goals
  • Discuss how course selections align with college, career, or military plans
  • Encourage your child to challenge themselves and consider advanced coursework when ready
  • Encourage regular conversations with their school counselor
