Teacher Action:

Write the morning message using an exclamation mark. Explain to students what an exclamation mark is. Include rhyming words in the sentence.

Teacher Action:

Write the morning message reviewing the skills: print concepts (sentence structure, punctuation, letters, words, and sentences).   Include rhyming words in the sentence.

Alphabet Knowledge 

  • Have children write letters in the air with their fingers.
  • Have children point to, circle, or write letters.
  • Compare letters (ex: โ€œLetโ€™s find letters with straight lines.โ€ or โ€œThese letters all have curves.โ€).
  • Have children find letters in their name or not in their name.

Rhyming

  • Utilize sentences from a nursery rhyme (ex: โ€œHumpty Dumpty sat on a wall.โ€
  • Change nursery rhyme words to include childrenโ€™s names (ex: Sally Mally sat on a wall.โ€)
  • Have children think of words that rhyme with a word included in the sentence.
