Welcome
Welcome to the Chavez Excel Academy Counseling! We are proud to support our students as they work toward graduation, plan for their future, and navigate the many changes that come with senior year. At Chavez Excel Academy, our goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where every student feels heard, supported, and encouraged.
Northside ISD follows a comprehensive school counseling program designed to support the whole student โ academically, socially, emotionally, and with college, career, and military readiness. Our counseling services are built around four main components:
Guidance Curriculum
Providing lessons and activities that help students build important skills for school, life, and future success.
Responsive Services
Offering support when students need help with personal concerns, academic challenges, crisis situations, or other immediate needs.
Individual Planning
Helping students set goals, monitor graduation progress, explore college and career options, and make informed decisions about life after high school.
System Support
Working with families, teachers, staff, and community partners to ensure students have the resources and support they need to be successful.
At Chavez Excel Academy, we understand that every studentโs journey looks different. Our counselor is here to listen, guide, advocate, and celebrate each student as they take their next steps toward graduation and beyond.
Vanessa Juarez, Counselor
I am a proud product of Northside ISD, having attended Linton Elementary, Sul Ross Middle School, and Business Careers High School at Holmes. Go Huskies!
Northside has been a big part of my life for many years, and Iโm grateful to have served in the district for over 18 years. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work as an elementary special education teacher, special education coordinator, middle school counselor, and now high school counselor.
As a high school counselor, I truly enjoy supporting students during such an important time in their lives. I believe every student has unique strengths, goals, and potential, and I am passionate about helping them feel supported as they grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where students feel heard, valued, and encouraged. Whether Iโm helping with graduation planning, college and career choices, personal concerns, or simply being a listening ear, I want students to know they are not alone.
I am here to listen, advocate, and help each student build the confidence and tools they need to move forward and reach their goals.
