Randall H. Fields

Randall (Randy) H. Fields was born June 16, 1948 to W.C. and Libby Fields in Louisville, Kentucky. After moving to Mississippi, the Fields family settled in Nashville, Tenn. where Fields attended middle school and high school.

In school, Fields played football, ran track, and participated in Boy Scouts and in youth groups at Woodmont Baptist Church. But, he also cultivated an artistic side by playing guitar in folk music groups and classic rock bands, singing in the school choir, and playing a lead role in his school's production of Oklahoma.

After graduating high school in June 1966, Fields attended Baylor University in Waco, Tex., where he earned a bachelor's degree in business management and a master's degree in business administration. But it was another accomplishment that may have brought Fields even more joy; completion of his private pilot license.

While a senior at Baylor, Fields met his future wife Nancy Hudson. The two married in November 1972. Fields began working at First National Bank in Dallas, first as a credit analyst and then as a junior officer, before being accepted into Baylor Law School in Spring 1975. As a law student, Fields taught several classes and served as editor of the Baylor Law Review and was president of his mid-law class. He accepted a position with a Waco law firm when he graduated in 1977.

Fields and his wife moved to San Antonio in 1979 so that he could serve as the executive director of a medical research foundation. He would then spend the next 20 years practicing business transaction and regulatory law with several San Antonio law firms.

All three of the Fields children - Rebecca, Travis, and Elizabeth; attended Howsman Elementary School, Hobby Middle School, and Clark High School. During his early years as a NISD parent, Fields was asked to participate on a citizens' strategic planning committee leading to the formation of the Northside Education Foundation in 1995. Fields served as its first president.

In 1990, Fields was appointed to the Baylor University Board of Regents and became President of the Baylor Alumni Association. He would continue on the Board of Regents through 1999, serving as chairman from 1995 to 1997.

Following the resignation of a trustee from the Northside ISD Board of Trustees in December 1999, Fields was appointed to complete the term. He was re-elected to full four-year terms in 2001, 2005, and 2009 and served as a NISD Trustee until 2013.

Fields retired from full-time law practice in 2000 and began working as an investment advisor and manager before forming his own registered investment advisory company in 2010. Now co-owned, Sensus Wealth Management Group LLC, has ten employees including Fields' three children.

Fields has been an active member of Trinity Baptist Church for 36 years and he sits on the board of trustees, has served as deacon, and teaches an adult bible study class.

Without a doubt, Randy Fields has the ability to wear many hats and exemplifies what it means to be a true statesman and leader. Now, as a Northside ISD namesake, he will continue to serve as a role model for the thousands of students who will attend Randall H. Fields Elementary School for years to come.
