Ileana Perez - Principal
Ileana Perez joined Fields Elementary in 2024 and Northside in 2019, following twelve years of service within the Wichita Public School District in Kansas. Her career began at Marshall Middle School, where she taught 8th grade math for five years before being named an Instructional Coach in the same building. After serving Marshall Middle School for eight years, she became a Data Leader at Jardine STEM and Career Explorations Academy, and the next year was named Assistant Principal at Gardiner Elementary where she served four years. Mrs. Perez grew up in San Antonio and attended school in the Northside Independent School District, graduating from Oโ€™Connor High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Southwestern College in Health and Physical Education with a minor in Mathematics. While teaching at Marshall Middle School, Mrs. Perez also obtained her certification to teach English as a Second Language. Mrs. Perez earned her masterโ€™s degree in Educational Leadership from Newman University in 2013. Mrs. Perez believes that connecting with students and families is what is key to support student learning in the classroom. She also believes that students who are connected to school through extra-curricular activities, perform better both academically and with social emotional skills. Her passion is coaching basketball and has done so both at the elementary, middle, and high school level. During her free time, Mrs. Perez enjoys activities with her children, working out at Camp Gladiator, and connecting with Fields students and families.

I am honored and excited to join the Fields Elementary community and to serve in a school where students are nurtured, challenged, and inspired each day.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary English from St. Maryโ€™s University and my Master of Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I hold both teaching and administrator certifications. I am proud to begin my 26th year in education.
My leadership philosophy is grounded in the belief that every child deserves a safe, supportive, and high-expectation learning environment where they are known, valued, and empowered to succeed. I am committed to fostering a culture of collaboration, trust, and continuous growth among staff and students. I believe strong instructional leadership, meaningful relationships, and shared responsibility are essential to ensuring high levels of student achievement.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving as a primary grade teacher in San Antonio ISD, Northside ISD, and Boerne ISD. I also served as an Assistant Principal for three years in South San ISD. These experiences have shaped my commitment to instructional excellence and my passion for supporting teachers in their work to meet the needs of all learners. I am truly grateful to return to Northside ISD as the Associate Principal of Fields Elementary School.
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, volunteering at my church, tending to my garden, catching the latest blockbuster movies, and listening to music.
I look forward to partnering with our students, staff, and families to build a strong school community where every child can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I am especially excited to work alongside families and community members to ensure that every student is supported in reaching their fullest potential.
