At Fields, we are committed to ensuring that all students with special needs receive high-quality, intentional instruction that fosters growth and personal success. Guided by the belief that all students are general education students first, we prioritize individual needs over labels and create positive learning environments where every learner can thrive. Through strong collaboration among educators, families, and the community, we provide a full continuum of services and uphold high expectations for every student. Our vision is to empower students with special needs to become confident, prepared individuals ready for lifelong success.
At Fields Elementary, our students actively engage in academics while building essential life and social skills each day. The ALE program is a TEKS-aligned, language-based program with instruction tailored to meet each child’s unique needs. Accommodations and modifications are provided so students can work on grade-level TEKS at the level most appropriate for them. In addition, students receive instruction in communication, functional skills, and behavioral competencies.
Our classroom is fully included in campus life, with students participating in discovery, lunch, recess, and field trips alongside their grade-level peers.
Students aged eight and older also have the opportunity to participate in Special Olympics with NISD. As students move on to middle and high school, the focus expands to future planning and employment skills, helping to ensure a seamless transition into post-secondary life.
