Independent School District has been home to Mrs. Mantle for many years. As a child she
attended all NISD schools from Kindergarten through High School, graduating from John
Marshall High School. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at
San Antonio in Interdisciplinary Studies.
Mrs. Mantle began her teaching career at Shirley J. Howsman Elementary, in NISD, as a Second Grade
teacher and later a Fifth Grade Teacher. During this time she enrolled in the Master’s program at UTSA
and obtained a Master’s Degree in Education. In 2008, Mrs. Mantle was named the Vice Principal of
Christian Evers Elementary. She served the Evers community for six year.
Mrs. Mantle believes building positive relationships creates an environment where children feel safe,
supported and connected to their learning. She values being part of a team that works to inspire all of
the students to learn and grow every day.
Mrs. Mantle has been married for 31 years, has two daughters, and a sweet puppy she calls, Duffy. She
enjoys gardening and doing things with her family during her free time.

Ileana Perez joined Forester Elementary and Northside in 2019, following twelve years of service within the Wichita Public School District in Kansas. Her career began at Marshall Middle School, where she taught 8th grade math for five years before being named an Instructional Coach in the same building. After serving Marshall Middle School for eight years, she became a Data Leader at Jardine STEM and Career Explorations Academy, and the next year was named Assistant Principal at Gardiner Elementary where she served four years. Mrs. Perez grew up in San Antonio and attended school in the Northside Independent School District, graduating from O’Connor High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Southwestern College in Health and Physical Education with a minor in Mathematics. While teaching at Marshall Middle School, Mrs. Perez also obtained her certification to teach English as a Second Language. Mrs. Perez earned her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Newman University in 2013. Mrs. Perez believes that connecting with students and families is what is key to support student learning in the classroom. She also believes that students who are connected to school through extra-curricular activities, perform better both academically and with social emotional skills. Her passion is coaching basketball and has done so both at the elementary, middle, and high school level. During her free time, Mrs. Perez enjoys activities with her children, working out at Camp Gladiator, and connecting with Forester students and families. Go DRAGONS!
