My name is Isabel Anaya, and I am truly honored and excited to serve as the Principal of John Glenn Elementary School. It is a privilege to join the Glenn community, and I look forward to partnering with our students, staff, families and our community as we begin an incredible school year together.
Although I am originally from East Chicago, Indiana, San Antonio has been my home for the past 25 years. I am a proud graduate of Ball State University, where I earned my degree in Elementary Education with a Spanish Endorsement. I later earned my Master's degree in Education and received my Principal Certification from The University of Texas at Arlington.
Over the past 25 years, I have had the privilege of serving Northside ISD in a variety of roles. I spent 21 years in the classroom at Villarreal Elementary and Kuentz Elementary, where I had the opportunity to teach students while leading numerous after-school enrichment clubs and activities. I then served for two years with Northside's Curriculum and Instruction Department before spending the past two years as the Associate Principal at Cable Elementary.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my son, Michael, who graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and is currently working as a Mechanical Engineer. We both share a passion for traveling, spending time outdoors, and exploring nature.
As Principal, I am committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where every student feels valued, challenged, and inspired to reach their fullest potential. I believe that when schools and families work together, amazing things happen for children. I look forward to building strong relationships with our astronauts, staff, and families as we continue to make John Glenn Elementary a place where every child can thrive.
I can't wait to meet each of you and welcome you to the Glenn family. Together, we will make this an incredible year of learning, growth, and success!
Glenn, Driven with Purpose!
With gratitude,
Isabel Anaya

I have thoroughly enjoyed working in education in Northside. In 2007, I had the privilege to begin teaching as a 2nd Grade Bilingual teacher at Esparza Elementary. The following year I became a Dual Language teacher in the same grade level. A few years later I taught as a 3rd Grade Dual Language teacher. In 2015 I was blessed to receive my Master Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Iām a proud Road Runner! I had the privilege of being the Administrative Intern at Boone Elementary in 2016. The following year, I was honored to become the Vice Principal here at John Glenn in March of 2017. I am very excited for this school year and the wonderful opportunities for growth and learning for our students. I know that as we work together we can strengthen our relationships which in turn will have a lasting impact on each one of our Glenn students. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns.
