Academics By Grade Levels

This is a break down of what student will learn in the classroom by grade level and what is expected from the student for achievement.

IN OUR PK CLASSROOM 

The Pre-K team will work with students and their families to support success in reading and math. Some of our key  connections with families will be: 

  • Design fun and educational family nights and share classroom strategies that help students become better learners. 
  • Utilize the daily homework folder that will be sent home with a review of letters, 100’s chart, shapes, and sight words. 
  • Encourage families to read together nightly for a  minimum of 15 minutes.

School Expectations for Student  Achievement 

  • All students will make continual progress in Reading. (Must be at a  Level C to be promoted. Must know a minimum of 25 sight words.) 
  • All students will increase math performance through the use of  Guided Math. (Must be able to count to 100, solve problems to 10, and recognize and write numbers to 20.) 
  • Writer’s Workshop will be used to increase all students’ writing performance. (Must be able to write first name and 5 sentences by  the end of the year.) 
  • Increase family participation to help student success.
  • Students will learn life-long practices related to health and fitness. 

IN OUR KINDER CLASSROOM 

The Kindergarten team will work with students and their  families to support success in reading and math. Some of  our key connections with families will be: 

  • Design fun and educational family nights and share  classroom strategies that help students become better  learners. 
  • Utilize the daily homework folder that will be sent  home with review of sight words, 100’s chart, shapes,  and coin chart. 
  • Encourage families to read together nightly for a  minimum of 20 minutes.

IN OUR 3rd GRADE CLASSROOM 

The 3rd-grade team will work with students and their families to support success in reading and math. Some of  our key connections with families will be: 

  • Design fun and educational family nights and share classroom strategies that help students become better learners. 
  • Encourage families to read together nightly. 
  • Use the Daily Homework Folders to communicate daily activities and academic expectations with families. 
  • Encourage families to practice basic multiplication fluency nightly.

School Expectations for Student  Achievement 

  • All students will make continual progress in Reading through the use of Guided Reading. 
  • All students will increase math performance through the use of Guided  Math. 
  • Writer’s Workshop will be used to increase all students’ writing performance. 
  • All students will be actively engaged with hands-on experiences in Science and Social Studies. 
  • Increase familial capacity and participation to aid in student success. 
  • Students will learn life-long practices related to health and fitness.

IN OUR 4th GRADE CLASSROOM

The fourth-grade team pledges to work collaboratively with students and their families to support success in reading and math. Some of our key commitments are: 

  • Provide engaging enrichment activities that strengthen all academic skills. 
  • Assist parents in helping their child choose appropriate interest-based and ability-leveled reading material. 
  • Maintain an open door policy and a willingness to work collaboratively to ensure the continued academic,  social, and emotional growth of all students.

School Expectations for Student  Achievement 

  • All students will improve their skills in all subject areas through targeted instruction and online interventions. 
  • All students will actively participate through in-person or virtual instruction on school days. 
  • All students will complete and submit daily assignments in all subject areas. 
  • All students will attend class daily. Absences will affect a student’s success throughout the school year.

IN OUR 5th GRADE CLASSROOM 

The 5th-grade team will work with students and their families to support success in all academic areas. Some of our key  connections with families will be: 

  • Design fun and educational family nights and share classroom strategies that help students become better learners. 
  • Encourage families to read together  
  • nightly. 
  • Use Agendas and/or Daily Homework Folders to communicate daily activities and academic  
  • expectations with families. 
  • Encourage families to practice basic multiplication fluency nightly. 
  • Use of Class Dojo as the main source of communication. Teachers will also communicate through phone and email.
