NISD's mission is to provide all NISD students who are eligible to ride the bus a safe, efficient, nurturing environment that supports the educational and extra-curricular objectives of the district.


Northside ISD continues to enforce its “No Shots, No School” policy. Texas law requires all public school children have current immunizations in order to attend class.

Cathy M. De Leon - Principal
Cathy Marie De Leon began her career in education in 1999 as a teacher at Alkek Elementary in Bandera ISD. Mrs. De Leon joined Northside ISD in 2001 as a classroom teacher at Eduardo Villarreal, Jr Elementary. In 2008, Mrs. De Leon was selected as the Administrative Intern for Bob Beard Elementary and the following year, served as the Intern on both Beard and Paul Ott Elementary. In 2010, Mrs. De Leon was appointed Vice Principal of Peggy Carnahan Elementary.

Mrs. De Leon and her husband relocated to Laredo, TX in 2013 where she served as the Assistant Principal at Leon Daiches Elementary in Laredo ISD. In 2016, Mrs. De Leon was appointed Principal of C.M. Macdonell Elementary.

Mrs. De Leon and her family returned to the San Antonio area in 2019 and she currently serves the Glenoaks Elementary community as Principal.

Mrs. De Leon received her Bachelor's Degree from Schreiner College, Kerrville, TX and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

She and her husband have a son.

Shawn Simmonds - Associate Principal

Shawn Simmonds graduated from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Ms. Simmonds also attended Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, where she earned a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership.

Shawn has 15 years experience in education. She taught elementary school (3rd & 4th grade) for 10 years before becoming an Assistant Principal with CCISD, where she has been for the last 5 years.

She is the proud mom of two daughters. Abby, who is a teacher in Northside ISD, and Jackie, who is a senior at Texas State.
