Kirsten Velasquez - Principal

Kirsten Velasquez holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Southwest Texas State University and an Elementary Administration degree from Concordia University. Over her 30-year career in education, she has served in diverse teaching and administrative roles. She began as a Special Education teacher and Campus Coordinator at Braun Station Elementary before helping open Dean H. Krueger Elementary in 2005 as a Special Education Teacher and Coordinator. Her leadership journey at Krueger continued as she stepped into the Vice Principal role in 2013 and became Principal in 2021. In 2026, Mrs. Velasquez was appointed Principal of Glenoaks Elementary.

Shawn Simmonds - Associate Principal

Shawn Simmonds graduated from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Ms. Simmonds also attended Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, where she earned a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership.

Shawn has 15 years experience in education. She taught elementary school (3rd & 4th grade) for 10 years before becoming an Assistant Principal with CCISD, where she has been for the last 5 years.

She is the proud mom of two daughters. Abby, who is a teacher in Northside ISD, and Jackie, who is a senior at Texas State.
