STEM Education in Northside ISD

Northside ISD’s STEM Education program provides students with hands-on, real-world learning experiences that integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Through inquiry-based instruction, problem solving, and design thinking, students develop critical thinking and collaboration skills that prepare them for future academic and career success.

At the elementary level, each campus has a dedicated STEM lab where students participate in activities and design challenges that spark curiosity and creativity using knowledge from classroom instruction and tied to a variety of STEM careers.

Howdy Rangers!

My name is Mrs. Vasquez, and I am the K–5 STEM Lab teacher! I have been in education for 20 years, having taught 1st and 3rd grade. This is our first full year of STEM, and I am so excited to teach, and learn, all things STEM!

I am a born-and-raised Texan! Some of my favorite things are coffee, donuts, crafting, and shopping. My most favorite thing to do is spend time with family and BBQ!

What is STEM?

STEM Education is an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.

In the STEM lab, your child will experience all of these areas hands-on! The goal is to increase student engagement, challenge, and excitement at an early age to prepare them for careers that have not even been created yet!

Student Goals for the Program

  • Develop 21st-century learning skills
