NISD's mission is to provide all NISD students who are eligible to ride the bus a safe, efficient, nurturing environment that supports the educational and extra-curricular objectives of the district.


Northside ISD continues to enforce its “No Shots, No School” policy. Texas law requires all public school children have current immunizations in order to attend class.

Carrie Squyres - Principal
Carrie Squyres began her career in Northside ISD in 1996. She has served as a classroom teacher at Adams Hill and Raul B. Fernandez elementary schools and as a Campus Instructional Technologist at F. R. Scobee and Nora Forester elementary schools. She opened John Hoffmann Elementary as the Vice Principal in 2009 and was appointed Principal in 2012. She was born and raised in San Antonio and is a proud product of NISD. She graduated from William Howard Taft High School and attended elementary and middle schools in Northside ISD. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Technology as well as Early Childhood, English for Second Language Learners, and Principal certifications.
Melanie Strawbridge - Vice Principal

Melanie Strawbridge began her career as a third grade teacher in Alabama. She relocated to Texas in 2008 where she taught first, second, and fourth graders at Knowlton Elementary. She became Vice Principal of Hoffmann Elementary in 2016. She holds a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Alabama, and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from UTSA.
