Xavier Maldonado, Academic Dean, Jones Magnet School
Xavier Maldonado (Jones Magnet) - Academic Dean
For the last five years, I have had the privilege of serving the Stinson Middle School community as their Vice Principal. Prior to that, I worked as the Assistant Principal at Hector Garcia Middle School. I first came to NISD as a Computer Instructional Technologist (CIT) working at Neff Middle School. By now, I presume you can see the trend – I've been a middle school type of person for years. Before coming to NISD, I worked at two San Antonio ISD middle schools. I served as Assistant Principal at Irving Middle School and as an eighth grade math teacher at Tafolla Middle School. Prior to catching the teaching bug, I served my country as an Air Force Officer, with tours of duty at Lackland AFB and Norton AFB in California.
I graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. I also earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from UTSA and a Master’s degree in Learning Technologies from The University of Texas at Austin.
My goal is to put all my experiences to use in creating a program that NISD and the Jones community can be proud of. I want to keep building on what JJSEA has already created while giving middle school students across the District the choice and opportunity to purse their interests and passion in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
