Suggested School Supply List
If you are picking up school supplies for your student before school starts, the AJMS Suggested Supply List is provided here. Most supplies are provided in the classroom (including Engineering Design Notebooks in magnet classes), but these items will help students work easily in class. We suggest students have paper and and writing instruments all the time. A combination lock is strongly recommended for students to secure their belongings during PE and athletics.
- Several packages of looseleaf notebook paper
- 1 package of blue or black ink pens
- 1 box of wooden writing pencils
- 3 Composition Notebooks (2 for ELA, 1 for Social Studies)
- 1 pencil bag
- 1 handheld pencil sharpener
- 1 package of colored pencils
- 1 ruler
- 1 combination lock for PE
Request for Parent Volunteers & Field Trip Chaperones
Magnet students attend several off-campus field trips throughout the school year, including locations such as Edwards Aquifer, the Toyota manufacturing plant, and the Witte Museum. We rely on the help of parent volunteers to serve as chaperones to make these trips run smoothly. We invite parents and guardians to sign up for the opportunity to join our trips as chaperones.
Chaperones will travel with the group and be assigned a small group of about 10 students (including their own student) to monitor during the trip.
Chaperones must successfully complete a Volunteer Background Check through NISD. Background checks must be resubmitted each school year.
If you are interested in applying to join us as a chaperone this school year, please:
- Be sure you have submitted a Northside ISD Volunteer Background Check online
- Complete the Jones Magnet Chaperone Sign-Up Form online
As field trip opportunities arise, our office will reach out to eligible volunteers.
Magnet Get Together at Missions Baseball
July 22 is $2 night at the San Antonio Missions baseball game. Families from Jones Magnet, Jordan Magnet, and Zachry Magnet will meet up to enjoy the game as a group. You can buy your tickets online from the Missions at this link. If you'd like to sit near other magnet families, pick seats in sections 122 and 124.
