Applying to UTSA Prep? Let us help
UTSA hosts a summer program for current 6th graders through 11th grade. The program focuses on engineer and design. We typically have a large number of Jones STEM Magnet students involved in UTSA PREP. Applications are open NOW through February 14. Northside ISD covers some of the cost of the program, making the cost $250 for Northside families.

The application requires some documents from the school. If you contact the STEM office, we will help you secure:
- A conduct letter from the school.
- An unofficial transcript from the counseling office.
- Email addresses for your student's math & science teachers (for the reference forms).
Order Hoodies and House Shirts Now
Our online store is open, selling hoodies and house shirts. Orders will be delivered to campus before Christmas break. Please double-check sizes before you order. The online store does not offer returns or exchanges.
We continue to sell magnet shirts for $10 cash in the STEM office.
Magnet School Applications Open November 17
Applications for Northside's magnet middle schools and magnet high schools will open on November 17. This year's application window closes on January 23. Families can apply for middle school and high school magnet programs at https://nisd.net/magnets.
Current Jones STEM 6th & 7th graders do not need to re-apply. Enrollment is continuous.
Current 8th grade students are invited to explore their high school options. Students at Jones STEM are granted automatic admission to the Science & Engineering Academy at Jay High School. If Jones STEM students want to attend Jay SEA, they do not need to complete an application. A seat is already reserved for them. If 8th graders are interested in other magnet high school options, they should complete the magnet application when it open on November 17.
Current 5th grade students are invited to apply to Northside's magnet middle schools. There are now FIVE magnet programs for middle school students. These programs accept students outside of the school district. Cluster bus route transportation is provided within the district's boundaries.
Families can learn about all of Northside's magnet programs at two magnet fairs:
- Monday, December 1, at the Northside Sports Gym, from 6:30 - 8:00
- Monday, December 8, at the Northside Activity Center and Paul Taylor Field House, from 6:30 - 8:00
Picture Retakes - December 2
School photos were distributed this week through first period classes. Retakes for all absent students will be on Tuesday, December 2.
