Parent Meeting - August 25

Jones & Jones STEM will host a parent meeting on August 25 on campus from 5:30 - 6:30. This informational meeting will address:

  • Volunteer opportunities for parents, including field trips.
  • The role of our campus counseling team and their annual "guidance lessons."
  • Magnet student responsibilities and expectations.
  • The impact of high school credit courses and attendance requirements
  • The magnet program curriculum and "design challenges."

Field Trip Permission Slips & Volunteers

STEM Magnet students take several field trips throughout the year. The first trips are quickly approaching in September. Please be sure to return the all-year field trip form you received at Open House or that your student brought home. If you need another copy, you can contact Ms. Moreno (6th Grade), Mr. Price (7th Grade), or Mr. Waters (8th Grade). 

Here are the first trips for each grade:

  • 6th Grade - San Antonio Museum of Science & Technology (SAMSAT) September 22 - 24
  • 7th Grade - Edwards Aquifer October 21-22
  • 8th Grade - Science & Engineering Academy November 5

If you are interested in volunteering to chaperone field trips this year, please complete this form, which includes instructions for the Volunteer Background Check.

Bus Information

You can get updates on your student's bus using Northside's bus app called "Here Comes the Bus." You can learn about this app, including how to add it to your phone and how to create your account at this website: https://www.nisd.net/schools/buses/here-comes-the-bus

This year, students will enter their ID number as they board the bus, and students will wear seat belts on any buses that are equipped with belts.

Tax Rate Notice
This year's levy to fund maintenance and operations expenditures exceeds last year's maintenance and operations tax levy.
Northside Independent School District ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE.
THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 1.05 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $30.00.
