5th Grade

Mrs. Gaffney

This is my 14th year teaching, and my 9th year teaching 5th grade. I am really excited to be your teacher this year, and I know if we respect each other we will have a fantastic year. I have a husband and two children who. Liam (11) starting 6th grade  and Brooklynn (8) in 3rd grade. I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, watching movies,  playing games,  and, traveling.

Teaching Method: My goal is to provide each and everyone of you the best 5th grade experience. I have very high expectations. This year,  we will work hard together to reach our goals, and I will make sure we have fun along our journey together.

Mrs. Ingram

I was born in Puerto Rico and raised in North Carolina. I graduated from Western Carolina University in 2014. I’ve been serving in the U.S. Army Reserves since 2016. This is my 7th year teaching and my 5th year at Kallison! I have a husband named Evan, we have two boys (Brady & Aaden), and 1 AussieDoodle named Thor. I love building relationships with each of my students and believe it creates a strong foundation in creating a safe and enjoyable classroom environment. A child needs to be emotionally and mentally ready to begin each day before they can learn. My goal is to nurture and make students feel supported.

Mr. Symcheck

This is my 34th year teaching, almost all of them in 5th grade.  I absolutely love 5th grade and believe there is no other place for me. I enjoy the outdoors, spending time with my family, watching movies, playing golf  and traveling in our corvette. I have a passion for helping all children reach their potential and love to challenge students to be curious and take chances when learning.  In addition to that I love the challenges and excitement that each day brings as an educator.

Why do I do the work I do? The main reason is because I love learning and I want to help the students in my class develop a lifelong love of learning. So much perspective and understanding can be gained through learning. Not only that, but learning is empowering. It can build confidence and lead to new opportunities.  I want my students to have the chance to see how big the world can be, and how many possibilities await them.

School can be a hard place for many students. We ask a lot of them and don’t always give much in return.  The fact is, students have to be here, and my job is to make school an engaging, challenging and positive place so that students WANT to be here.

Ms. Parr

This is my 11th year teaching in Northside ISD and my 2nd year here at Kallison. I’ve taught 5th grade for 9 years… it really is the best grade! I was born and raised right here in San Antonio and am a proud product of Northside ISD myself, attending Leon Springs Elementary, Stinson Middle School, and graduating from O'Connor High School. I graduated from Texas A&M University, College Station in 2013. I love being the favorite Aunt to my twin nieces, hiking, reading, watching college football, and listening to live music! Teaching is my passion, and I love creating engaging, exciting, and memorable experiences for my students!
