Kendra Merrell - Principal
My name is Kendra Merrell and I am the proud principal at Bob Lewis Elementary School. I have worked as a first grade teacher and a third grade teacher as well as an academic specialist in the areas of science and writing. I actually started my administrative career right here at Lewis Elementary! I was the administrative intern for the campus for the 2007-2008 school year. I am honored to be your principal and I am so fortunate to be a part of the BLE family!

Hello Lewis family!
My name is Shane Murnin and I could not be more excited to be your associate principal.
I’m entering my 12th year in NISD, which is hard to believe. I started my career in BMC at Mead Elementary, then taught 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades before being appointed YOUR Associate Principal this past May. WOOHOO!!!
I am a family man through and through! I have a wife and two daughters, and my three girls are absolutely my everything. We love playing around in San Antonio’s many fun areas; including The Riverwalk, King William District, The Pearl, and the surrounding small towns.
I went to UTSA for both of my degrees, and I’m a big sports fan!! I love the Spurs, Houston Texans, UTSA, and UT. I love to play golf, take my family to the beach, play basketball, and explore San Antonio and all it has to offer. My favorite food hands down is steak. I love to cook steaks and I love to discover and enjoy steakhouses all over the map.
My personal beliefs around educational leadership are simple. I’m here to support our Lewis Leopards in making sure that they receive the highest quality educational instruction that they possibly can. I pair that with concentrated attention on being a good citizen, and an ever growing learner. I believe strongly that building personal relationships with our students is key to their success, so that will be of paramount importance as we delve into this journey together.
One of the many quotes that drives my pedagogy is from Aristotle. He beautifully stated that, “educating the mind, without educating the heart, is no education at all.” That fully embodies my belief in both the importance of relationship development and developing the whole child.
I am so honored to be a part of your community, please don’t EVER hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or celebrations. I’m here FOR YOU!
I can be reached at 2103972650 ext. 72665 or Shane.murnin@nisd.net
Here’s to a great year, Leopards!! #LeopardPride
