The ALE program is a TEKS aligned, language based program. Instruction is specialized to the child’s needs. Accommodations and modifications are provided to allow students to work on grade level TEKS at the level they are currently at. Additional instruction is provided in communication, functional skills and behavioral competencies. Students attend discovery, lunch, recess and field trips with their grade level peers. Additionally, students 8 and up are provided with an opportunity to participate in Special Olympics with NISD.
Looking forward to middle and high school, a focus will be placed on futures planning and employment skills. The hope is that the post secondary transition will a seamless one.
