Prior to becoming an educator, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Bilingual Bicultural Studies at UTSA. Birds Up! I then went on to earn a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Lamar University. While at NISD, I have served in various roles from teacher, to special education coordinator, to associate principal. Most recently, I was the Principal of Los Reyes Elementary. All of these opportunities added a wealth of knowledge and experience to my current role, as principal.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our beautiful children. We go on walks, hikes, and love spending time near the water.
I grew up on the southside of San Antonio, soy mexicana, y hablo español! My leadership is driven by a deep commitment to provide educational excellence for all students, regardless of race or background. I am committed to creating a nurturing and innovative environment where every one of our Martin Engineers can thrive and I look forward to working collaboratively with all of YOU!
This year is Martin’s year to SHINE. We will SHINE TOGETHER!
Your Proud Principal,
Mrs. Gibson
The Associate Principal also serves as the Campus Behavior Coordinator. They can be reached by email at Sandra.zamarripa@nisd.net or by phone at 210-398-1400.
My name is Sandra Zamarripa, and I am both thrilled and honored to serve as the Associate Principal at Martin Elementary.
I began my journey in education 19 years ago, and it has been a true passion ever since. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2007, followed by a Master’s degree in Leadership and Administration from Concordia University in 2012.
My teaching career began in a neighboring district, where I taught bilingual students in kindergarten, 1st grade, and 4th grade. In 2015, I joined Northside ISD as a 4th grade teacher at Leon Valley Elementary for six wonderful years. I then transitioned into a leadership role as a Math Specialist at Martin Elementary, where I served for three years before stepping into the Associate Principal position.
I am deeply committed to fostering academic excellence, supporting student well-being, and building meaningful relationships within our school community. I believe every child deserves a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where they can thrive—and I work each day to help make that vision a reality.
Together, WE CAN and WE WILL strive for excellence!
