I began my career in 1990 at John Glenn Elementary School where I taught physical education and then transferred to the classroom as a third grade teacher/social studies facilitator/team leader. After 14 years I had the opportunity to open Ward Elementary School as a third grade teacher/science facilitator. I was hired as the Vice-Principal at Raba Elementary School in 2004 and after 4 years I was hired as the Principal at Powell Elementary School where I served through 2013.
I am a graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio and have my Master degree from Texas A&M, Kingsville.
I have 30 plus years in education, going strong and loving what I do!

The Associate Principal also serves as the Campus Behavior Coordinator. They can be reached by email at jennifer.delarosa01@nisd.net or by phone at 210-398-1765.
I am so excited to be named the Associate Principal at McAndrew Elementary. I came to McAndrew in 2015 and taught 5th grade for six years. Before joining the McAndrew family, I taught at Powell Elementary in Northside. My educational career includes teaching 2nd, 3rd and 5th grade. My love for learning, teaching, children and teamwork has naturally led me to school leadership. I believe in growth and success through collaborative relationships with our amazing staff and families. I count myself very blessed to be in this new role in the same wonderful school family. Like Mrs. Upright, my door is always open for you.
