San Antonio’s top academic competitors showcased their knowledge at the Regional Academic Decathlon meets on January 23. Thirteen NISD high schools participated across three regional competitions, each engaging with this year’s theme, “The Roaring Twenties.”
Team Results and State Qualifiers
The competition was fierce across three different regions, with NISD schools securing top placements and earning coveted spots at upcoming state competitions on February 27-March 1.
- Region IV:
Warren High School took first place, securing the regional championship. They are joined by Marshall High School (2nd) and O'Connor High School (3rd) in advancing to the Thomas E. Moseley Championship Finals in San Antonio. Clark High School also performed exceptionally well and will advance to the Frisco Invitational State Finals.
- Region III:
Health Careers High School placed 1st in the Small School division and was the highest-scoring team of the meet among all 19 schools in Region III. They will represent San Antonio at the Small School State Finals in Corpus Christi.
- Region XI:
Jay High School secured a notable 3rd place finish out of 20 teams in their region.
Individual Honors
Due to severe weather conditions impacting the state, the competition schedule was abbreviated. This resulted in the cancellation of the Speech and Interview events and did not allow time for the traditional recognition of individual awards during the ceremony.
