Northside ISD proudly salutes our nation’s heroes during America’s Heroes Week, Sept. 25–27. Each year, the District recognizes active-duty service members, veterans, and first responders for their courage and sacrifice. As a token of appreciation, anyone with a military ID or in uniform, including first responders, will receive free admission to all varsity football and volleyball games throughout the week.
Special tributes will take place before varsity football games at Farris and Gus stadiums. Honorees will be invited to the north end zone for recognition during a patriotic musical performance, followed by a halftime salute featuring a stirring marching band tribute to all branches of the military. Players will also take the field wearing helmets adorned with American flag decals.
“Our purpose in Northside ISD Athletics and Fine Arts is to teach and model for our future leaders the importance of going Beyond the Game and embracing Servant Leadership,” said Conrad Hernandez, Executive Director of Athletics. “In a military community like ours, we are blessed with role models in our military and first responders, who show us every day what it means to be selfless in service to others.”
