Northside ISD Bond Propositions B and C include $60.1 Million in Technology Infrastructure and Campus Devices

Northside Independent School District voters will consider two technology-focused categories in the upcoming bond and VATRE election, addressing both the district’s behind-the-scenes digital infrastructure and the devices used daily by students, teachers, and campus staff.

Together, Propositions B and C propose an investment of $60.085 million in technology improvements.

Proposition B: Technology infrastructure in the General School Facilities Proposition 

Proposition B, the general proposition, includes $4.085 million for technology infrastructure and related upgrades:

• Data center critical infrastructure replacement: $920,000
• Network infrastructure replacement: $2,245,000
• Campus wireless network upgrades: $520,000
• Campus audio-visual systems upgrades: $400,000

The $920,000 data center project would replace critical backup hardware that protects the district’s entire data ecosystem. Every day, Northside ISD relies on millions of digital files, student records, and operational databases to keep schools running safely and efficiently.

The backup equipment in the data center provides necessary safeguards against catastrophic hardware failures and malicious cyberthreats, including ransomware. By proactively replacing the hardware before current systems expire, the district would strengthen its ability to recover quickly from a digital crisis, minimizing lost instructional time or important data.

The broader Proposition B technology infrastructure projects would also replace aging network hardware, enhance campus wireless coverage, and update audiovisual systems that support school sites, operational workflows, and communications.

Proposition C: Instructional technology

Proposition C would provide $56 million for instructional technology, including mobile devices for students and updated computers for teachers and staff.

The investment would replace aging equipment and provide students and campus staff with current technology to support classroom instruction, communication, digital learning platforms, and administrative work.

While Proposition B focuses on the systems and infrastructure that keep the district’s networks and data secure and operational, Proposition C focuses on the devices used directly by students, teachers, and campus staff.

Combined, the two propositions would address interconnected technology needs throughout Northside ISD—from data protection and network reliability to classroom devices and instructional tools. The proposed total investment across both propositions is $60.085 million.
