AROUND THE DISTRICT

Viva Fiesta, Northside!

The countdown to Fiesta has begun, and some NISD campuses got a jumpstart in their celebrations by hosting Fiesta Parades this week. At Driggers Elementary, the parade included floats, Fiesta hats and bling, a drumline and mariachi band, dangers, dignitaries, police and fire representatives, food vendors, and even a couple of horses. What more do you need?

Driggers fourth grade student Stormy Torres designed the Fiesta medal for the campus.

Viva Fiesta! Pictures from the event can be found here.

CTE Students Experience Career Paths in Action

CTE Construction students recently gained real-world experience during a Job Shadow Day hosted by Marek Bros. at NAC, stepping beyond the classroom to explore careers in the field.

Students participated in engaging presentations from ABC South Texas and DeWalt, as well as hands-on building demonstrations led by the Marek team. Adding to the impact, many of the professionals mentoring students are proud NISD CTE graduates, offering a powerful example of success after graduation.

This experience provided valuable insight into construction career pathways and the skills needed to thrive in the industry. Thank you to Marek Bros. and all partners for investing in the future of our students!
