On the cover: Purple was the color of the day across NISD on April 15 as we celebrated and supported our military-connected students. To honor military youth affected by deployment, everyone is encouraged to wear purple today in support of these children for their daily sacrifices, commitment, and courage. NISD Expands Pre-K to Include Qualifying 3-Year-Olds

Northside ISD is excited to expand its Pre-K program to include qualifying 3-year-olds, giving more young learners access to a strong start in school. The program is FREE. Based on Texas eligibility requirements, this new opportunity helps families begin building a solid foundation for future success even earlier.

Students will learn in a blended classroom setting where 3- and 4-year-olds grow together in a nurturing, engaging environment. This model supports developmentally appropriate learning while encouraging peer interaction that builds language, social skills, and early academic foundations.

Give your child a head start in a high-quality program designed to help them thrive. Enroll today and take the first step toward a bright future!

HELPFUL RESOURCES

New Features in Schoolnet (CMS)

Schoolnet has recently updated a few features for building an assessment. First, you must select a Test Category. Second, a tool has been added to assist in adding Content and Language Supports. Watch this video for more details. This resource and others can be found on the Schoolnet (CMS) Site, under HUB - Instructional Systems Support. For a listing of previous Schoolnet articles, click here.

Coming Soon: Meeting Conversations in Google Chat

Finding specific links, shared resources, or follow-up notes from a previous meeting can often feel like searching for a needle in a haystackโ€”especially when those conversations are tucked away in a long list of direct messages.

To help simplify this, Google is introducing a dedicated Meetings section within Google Chat. While this feature is just beginning its rollout and may not be visible in our district accounts quite yet, it is designed to provide a more intuitive way to manage your virtual meeting conversation.

What to Expect

The new Meetings section acts as a centralized hub for all your meeting-related conversations. Located in the sidebar between your direct messages and spaces, it automatically groups calendar invite threads into a single, organized area.

How This Supports Your Workflow:

  • Improved Organization: By separating meeting threads from your Direct Messages,  your workspace remains uncluttered and easier to navigate.
  • Efficient Follow-Up: Whether you need to reference a file shared during a grade-level meeting or review action items from a department briefing, all relevant information stays pinned in one predictable location.

How to Set It Up (Once Available)

This feature is optional, so you can choose whether and when to use it. Once it arrives in our environment, you can enable it by following these steps:

  1. Click the three-dot menu icon next to any section in your Chat sidebar.
  2. Select "Create a meeting section."
  3. Click "Create," and your meetings will begin to populate in their new home immediately.

We hope this update provides a more seamless way to access your collaborative notes and keeps your Google Chat organized. Keep an eye out for this addition in the coming weeks!
