PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
As the weather continues to get colder, we want to remind everyone to help students make appropriate clothing choices so they can stay warm throughout the school day. If your family needs any assistance with winter clothing, please do not hesitate to reach out to the campus. We have resources available and are always here to support.
Attendance continues to be extremely important, especially as we approach the end of the semester. For students taking high school credit courses, attendance counts heavily toward earning credit, and semester exams are just around the corner. We want to make sure every student is here every day when they are able so they can finish the semester strong.
Thank you for your partnership and continued support. Have a great weekend!
๐ Intramural Sports Update
Weโre excited to share that our students are actively participating in a variety of sports through our intramural program!
- โฝ Soccer Final: This week we wrapped up our soccer season with the championship game. The winning team proudly took home a trophy, and every participant received a special soccer pin to celebrate their hard work and dedication.
- ๐ New Sports: Weโve kicked off flag football and badminton, giving students even more opportunities to get involved, stay active, and have fun with friends.
๐ If your student would still like to join intramurals, itโs not too late! Just pick up a permission slip in the front office and return it to Ms. Lima.
Rayburn Holiday Happenings
Starting next week, Rayburn will bring a little holiday magic to campus with 10 days of holiday spirit and dress up days. Students are encouraged to participate each day and enjoy the two weeks leading up to the winter break.
Please remember that all items must be in line with the Rayburn and NISD dress code.
Semester 1 Grades
As we approach the winter break, it is important for students to stay focused in class and remain diligent in their work. The end of the first semester is on Friday, December 19th.
Students who are concerned about their grades should work with teachers to complete missing work, attend tutoring, etc., prior to Wednesday, December 17th.
Parent, please continue to check HAC to monitor your child's progress. If you have questions about a grade, please reach out to the teacher of the class. We appreciate your support as we work together to help all Raiders be successful!
GTEAC T-Shirt Design Contest Winner
Today we celebrated Ansel Del Carmen, a 6th grade Gifted & Talented student who won the district-wide t-shirt design contest for the 2025 NISD GTEAC iGnite Fundraiser. His design helped raise $6,195 to support GT specialists through iGniTe grants for resources, technology, and curriculum needs. GTEAC surprised him with a prize from Raising Caneโs, and I gifted him his own shirt. Congratulations, Ansel!
8th Grade Guidance
This week, counselors will be visiting our 8th graders to present information about what to expect next year as they begin planning for their high school courses. In January, counselors from Jay High School will meet with our 8th graders to complete their planning guides and walk them through the course selection process.
City Sports Opportunity
Joining city leagues is a fantastic step for your child's athletic development, offering benefits that directly prepare them for school sports. City leagues often provide a lower-pressure environment focused on skill-building and fundamentals. Your child will get significantly more game time and repetitions, allowing them to truly learn the sport and develop core competencies.
This consistent, focused practice not only helps them get better but also builds teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanshipโall essential traits that will make them a more competitive and valuable player when they try out for and join a school team later on. It's the perfect path to gain experience, build confidence, and be well-prepared for the next level of competitive play.
