PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Happy New Year Raiders! We had a great first week back on campus with students as we began the second semester of the school year. It is already a busy time of year as we prepare for MAP testing to take place over the next two weeks in all grade levels. First up, we have Math MAP testing on Tuesday, Jan. 13th. This will be followed by Reading MAP testing on Wednesday, Jan. 21st. It is very important that all students attend school on time these days, just as any other day, as these tests help to determine student progress to this point in the year. If you have any questions, please reach out to the campus for more details.

Both the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 School Report Cards for Rayburn are now available from the Texas Education Agency. Below this message, I have attached a letter with information about the release and the Report Cards for our campus. Throughout the year I have been speaking to families and community members about our Campus Improvement Plan and efforts taken to strengthen student achievement at Rayburn. We are continuing to analyze student data and consider all measures necessary to help us reach our goals. We appreciate your continued support of your student and our campus each day.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and we will see you bright and early on Monday.

MAP Testing

All students on campus will be taking the Middle of Year MAP assessments in the coming two weeks. On Tuesday, January 13th, students will take the Math test. On Wednesday, January 21st, students will take the Reading test.
The campus will be closed to visitors both of those mornings to allow for a smooth and disruption free testing environment for students.
Student results will go home to all families the week of February 6th.

The Importance of Attendance

Being at school every day really matters! Each day gives students a chance to learn new things and build important connections with their teachers and friends.

If your child is out sick, please send a quick note with them when they return so we can keep attendance records accurate.

A quick reminder about partial-day absences: for a health-related absence to be excused, students need to be at school for at least part of the day—even if they have a doctor’s appointment. Partial-day absences still count as full-day absences, so every bit of time in class makes a difference.

For students currently enrolled in high school credit courses, attendance is especially important, as missing too many days can directly impact their ability to earn credit for the course. Developing strong attendance habits now is key to both middle school success and future high school expectations.

Thank you so much for your continued support in helping your student be at school as much as possible!

No Name Calling Week

Students and staff are invited to participate in our No Name Calling Week dress-up themes. Please see the flyer for details. We hope to see lots of participation as we work together to promote kindness and create a culture of positivity across our campus.

Screenagers

Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age is a film that probes into the the struggles of parenting in the digital age. The film delves into the relationship between cell phones and anxiety, sleep and brain development in adolescents. The film is about an hour long and will be followed up with a brief panel discussion. The panel discussion will include two middle school students, a counselor and a parent.
