Understandings | • Routine Organizational Tool checks; refining the "focused note-taking" process with a focus on Phase 2 (Processing). • Strengthening the "Pre-Work" on the TRF; learning to articulate the "Point of Confusion" clearly. • Introduction to "Time Mapping" and balancing extracurriculars with increased middle school rigor. • Lessons on neuroplasticity and overcoming academic "roadblocks." | • Mastering Level 2 (Processing) and Level 3 (Applying) questions; using them in both TRFs and class discussions. • "Marking the Text" with a focus on "Thinking Notes" (symbols/annotations in the margins). • Participating in inner/outer circle discussions with a focus on "Building on the ideas of others." • Developing a "Personal Academic Word Wall" based on root words and affixes. |
