Unit 1: Supervised Agriculture Experience Program - 3 days

 

Students will discuss and develop all components of a supervised agriculture experience. 

 

Unit 2: General Shop Safety - 3 weeks

 

Students will develop an understanding of agricultural mechanics as it relates to safety.

-NISD General Shop Safety Exams

 

Unit 3: Tool ID - 1 week

 

Unit 4: Tape Measure - (review) 2-3 days

 

Unit 5: Oxy-Fuel Safety - 1 week

 

-Oxy-fuel Safety Exams

 

Unit 5: Oxy-Fuel Cutting - 2 weeks

 

Students will select and operate oxy-fuel welding and cutting equipment to meet standards.

 

Unit 6: Iron Worker Safety 1-2 days

-Iron Worker Safety Exams

 

Unit 6: Use of the Iron Worker 1-2 days

Unit 7: Shielded Arc Welding Safety - 1 week

 

The Student will be able to explain how to safely operate electric-arc welding equipment to meet standards. 

      -Safety Exams

 

Unit 7: Shielded Arc Welding Safety - 2 weeks

 

The student will perform specialty welding techniques to meet standards.

 

Unit 8: Metal Inert Gas Welding Safety - 1 week

 

Students will be able to explain how to safely operate MIG welding equipment to meet standards. 

      -Safety Exams

 

Unit 8:Metal Inert Gas Set-up and Welding - 4 weeks

 

The student will perform MIG welding techniques to meet standards.

 

-Certification - AWS level 1

 

Unit 9:Cold Saw/Chop Saw Safety Set-up and Use - .5 week

 

Students will be able to explain how to safely operate the cold saw and chop saw.The student will be able to  demonstrate  how to properly use the equipment to meet standards.

Fall CCA

Unit 10: Project Planning - 3 weeks

Students will discuss, develop, read, and interpret designs and sketches, estimate material needs and costs.

 

 

 

Unit 11: Fabrication - 6 weeks

Students will know the importance of exact measurements, angles, squareness, and tack welding.

Unit 12: Electricity Basics & Safety - 2 weeks

Students will have a basic knowledge of how electricity works and how to safely work around it.

Unit 12: Electrical Wiring Skills - 3 weeks

Students will discuss electric wiring skills.  In small groups and/or in other classroom activities, students will identify principles of electricity and wiring terminology, install electric wiring components and fixtures to comply with governmental regulations and applicable codes, and  maintain electric motors.

         

Unit 13: Plumbing Skills - 3 weeks

Students will discuss plumbing skills.  In small groups and/or in other classroom activities, students will identify and use plumbing tools, and identify plumbing fixtures.

UNIT 14: Professional Standards/Employability Skills - 1 week

 

Students will discuss the professional standards and employability skills, including identifying career development and entrepreneurship opportunities in the field of power, structural, and technical agricultural systems, apply competencies related to resources, information, interpersonal skills, problem solving, critical thinking, and systems of operation of power, structural, and technical agricultural systems, and examine licensing, certification, and credentialing requirements to maintain compliance with industry requirements. Students will further develop and demonstrate these skills and attributes throughout the course.  In small groups and/or in other classroom activities, students will demonstrate knowledge of personal and occupational safety, health, and first-aid policy in the workplace, identify appropriate work habits, and characteristics of good citizenship skills.
