Unit 3: From Model To Render

• Blender (or Maya) Box Modeling

• Adding a texture

• Adding a light

Unit 4: Animation

• Review 12 principles of animation

Unit 5: Character Animation

• Humanoid Walk Cycles in 3D using Max Rig

• Short scene using Max Rig

 

Unit 6: Character: From Design to Rig

• What makes an effective character design?

• 2D turnaround

• Bones, Controls, and Hierarchy

• Test your rig with a walk cycle

 

Fall CCA

Unit 7: Making A Story

• Review of Types of Shots

• Storyboard animatic

• Camera in 3d - layout

• Layout animatic

 

Unit 8: Texture

• Materials in Blender (or Maya)

• Apply materials to a test scene

• Procedural textures

• UV mapping

• 2d maps to 3d art

Unit 9: Lights

• How lighting contributes to the story

• types of lights

• ‘paint’ a scene with only lights

 

Unit 10: Advanced Rendering 

• Raytracing 

• Ambient Occlusion

• Subsurface Scattering

 

Unit 11: Final Animation

• Put it all together to create a very short, short.
