Unit 3: Academics in Automotive Collision and Repair  (2 Week)

- locate, read, and interpret documents such as service and repair information, technical bulletins, specifications, schematics, and parts catalogs

Unit 4: Tools, Equipment and Materials (2 Weeks)

- audits and inspections to maintain compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations

-types of vehicle construction materials and associated repair methods

-methods of collision energy management and types of damage

- types of vehicle finishes and associated refinish technique

-vehicle body components

-welding and cutting processes

Cont. Unit 4: Tools, Equipment and Materials (3 Weeks)

- audits and inspections to maintain compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations

-types of vehicle construction materials and associated repair methods

-methods of collision energy management and types of damage

- types of vehicle finishes and associated refinish technique

-vehicle body components

-welding and cutting processes

Unit 5: Repair and Preparation Procedures (6 Weeks)

-identify vehicle body components; assess for repair or replacement

-basic types of repair procedures for different types of vehicle body construction

-pre-repair and repair inspection of non-damaged components

- proper preparation, application, and refinishing of various paint products

-measurements to diagnose vehicle body shape and frame alignment angles

-body panel damage :inspection, disassembly, and repair or replacement of components

-inspect, remove, replace, and align hoods, hinges, latches, and bumper covers

-inspect, remove, and replace bolted, bonded, and welded panels or panel assemblies

-remove, install, and adjust vehicle mechanical systems and electrical components

Fall CCA

Unit 7: Repairs (5 Weeks)

-Remove paint from damaged areas

-Repair surface irregularities 

-Hammer and Dolly techniques for dent repair

-heat and cold shrink stretched panel areas

-prepare and apply body filler

-application on Aluminum surfaces

-analyze damage to determine appropriate methods for overall repairs

-visual inspection of structural components and members

-structural damage using measuring tools and equipment

-visual inspection of non-structural components and members;

-determine parts, components, material type(s), and procedures for repair

- type and condition of finish 

-identify suspension, electrical, and mechanical component physical damage; safety systems physical damage; interior component damage;

damage to add-on accessories and modifications; 

single/one-time use components.

Unit 8: Glass, Plastics, and Adhesives (4 week)

-inspect, adjust, repair, or replace window systems such as regulators, run channels, glass, power mechanisms, and related controls

-inspect, adjust, remove, repair, or reinstall body sealing systems ie. weather stripping; regulators, run channels, glass, power mechanisms, controls for roof panel sun roofs and convertible tops; and convertible tops and related mechanisms.

 

-identify the types of plastics used in automotive applications

 

-clean and repair rigid, semi-rigid, or flexible plastic panels

 

-remove or repair damaged areas from rigid exterior composite panels

 

- replace bonded rigid exterior composite body panels, straightening or aligning panel supports.

Unit 9: Painting and Refinishing (3 Weeks)

 

-identify types of vehicle finishes and associated refinish techniques;

 

- cause of paint and refinishing defects

 

- interior and exterior trim repair

 

-corrosion protection, including sealers, adhesives, and under-coatings;

 

Unit 9: Painting and Refinishing (2 Weeks)

 

-prepare damaged area using water-based and solvent-based cleaners

 

-demonstrate vehicle detailing.

 

Unit 10: Parts, Costs, and Paperwork (2 Weeks)

 

-complete collision repair orders and related paperwork

 

-service and repair information, technical bulletins, specifications, schematics, and parts catalogs

 

-math skills for estimating and  establishing charges and totals, profit margins, technician productivity, and shop efficiency

 

-determine vehicle damage and prepare an estimate of the repair costs

 

Unit 11: Collision Repair Course Culmination Activities  (2 Weeks)

 

-demonstration of locating and recording appropriate owner and vehicle information, appropriate estimating procedures, terminology and sequence, and an estimation of time and labor, parts, prices, materials and allowances or fees.
