Unit 1: Professional and Industry Standards (1 Week) - appropriate work habits -- appropriate dress for the work environment Employability Skills - Communication Skills - Listening Skills - Public Relations Skills - current industry standards and practices for quality projects -document how quality improves profitability - issues that affect quality - industry standards and practices to enhance appreciation for quality workmanship Unit 2: Career Planning (1 Week) - education and training opportunities to acquire skills for career advancement - postsecondary educational for architecture and construction trades, ie. college, apprenticeship, and specialty trade schools - professional journals, magazines, manufacturers' catalogs, industry publications - local and regional labor markets Unit 3: Technological Applications (1 Week) Use throughout course -Electronic Devices to Communicate -Writing and Publishing Applications -Spreadsheet Applications -Database Applications -Collaborative Applications (BlueBeam) Unit 4: Health and Safety Standards (2 Weeks) - appropriate safety standards; safety rules and regulations; safety precautions and hazards - safety practices and equipment, including personal protective equipment Unit 5: Maintain Tools, Machines, and Equipment (1 Week) - select, safely operate, and maintain tools, machinery, and equipment - state-of-the-art tools, equipment, materials, technologies, and methodologies Unit 6: Build Skills: (2 Week) Mathematical Skills - areas and volumes of various structures and estimate materials and supplies using geometric formulas and calculations - percentages and decimals and use percentages and decimals for measurement tasks - ratios, fractions, and proportions using formulas and calculations - measurement tasks using ratios, fractions, and proportions - estimate materials and supplies using dimensions, spaces, and structures calculations Physics Skills - basic concepts of static and loads to planning - physical properties of common construction materials handling materials safely, effectively, and efficiently Chemical Materials - compatible and incompatible substances - chemical process that occurs when using common construction materials Unit 7: Technical Drawings and Documents (1 Week) Elements and symbols of blueprints and drawings -classifications of drawings and drawing dimensions - different types of lines for construction drawings - architectural symbols commonly used to represent materials - electrical, mechanical, and plumbing symbols commonly used on plans | Unit 7: Technical Drawings and Documents (3 Weeks) Elements and symbols of blueprints and drawings -classifications of drawings and drawing dimensions - different types of lines for construction drawings - architectural symbols commonly used to represent materials - electrical, mechanical, and plumbing symbols commonly used on plans - interpret plans, elevations, schedules, and sections -interpret blueprints and drawings to assist with project planning Unit 8: Governmental Regulations and Codes (1 Week) - governmental regulations and codes to establish a legal and safe environment - occupation-specific governmental regulations and national, state, and local building codes -OSHA and SDS -Electrical Codes Unit 9: Regulations and Contracts (1 Week) - regulations and codes to identify those applicable to the local area

Fall CCA | Unit 11: Project Planning Framing Systems (2 Weeks) - identifying resources and materials and time-management, labor/job-management, and job-site obligations - estimating correct amounts of required resources/materials - estimate the amount of materials needed to frame a floor, frame, walls and ceilings - execute, monitor, and control a project using available resources and materials effectively - evaluating waste of resources and materials Unit 12: Framing Systems (3 Weeks) FLOOR - different types of framing systems - floor system requirements - methods used to fasten sills to the foundation - the proper girder or beam size - different types of flooring materials - purposes of subflooring and underlayment - fasteners to be used in various floor framing systems - install bridging, joists for a cantilever-floor, subfloor using butt-joint plywood, single floor system using (T&G) plywood or (OSB) panels
WALLS & CEILINGS -components of a wall and ceiling layout - for laying out a wood frame wall, including the installation of plates, corner posts, door and window openings, partition Ts, bracings, and firestops - correct procedure for assembling and erecting an exterior wall common materials and methods used for installing sheathing on walls Unit 13: Evaluation of Project and Project Reports for Framing Systems (1 Weeks) -detailed timeline - project update for stakeholders - verbal or written status report on a project Unit 14: Concrete Project Planning (1 Weeks) - identifying resources and materials and time-management, labor/job-management, and job-site obligations - estimating correct amounts of required resources/materials - execute, monitor, and control a project using available resources and materials effectively - evaluating waste of resources and materials Unit 15: Concrete (2 Weeks) - properties of cement - composition of concrete - volume estimates for concrete - types of concrete reinforcement materials - types of footings and forms - erect, plumb, and brace a simple concrete form with reinforcement | Unit 15: Concrete cont.
