Device Boxes

• Describe the different types of nonmetallic and metallic boxes

• Calculate the NEC fill requirements for boxes under 100 cubic inches

• Identify the appropriate box type and size for a given application

• Select and demonstrate the appropriate method for mounting a given box

Hand Bending

• Identify the methods for hand bending and installing conduit

• Determine conduit bends

• Make 90-degree bends, back-to-back bends, offsets, kicks, and saddle bends using a hand bender

• Cut, ream, and thread conduit

- high voltage handling

- lift safety

 

Fall CCA

Raceways and Fittings 

• Identify and select various types and sizes of raceways and fittings for a given application

• Identify various methods used to fabricate (join) and install raceway systems

• Identify uses permitted for selected raceways

• Demonstrate how to install a flexible raceway system

• Terminate a selected raceway system

• Identify the appropriate conduit body for a given application

 

-Safety Exams or Certifications:

- Team evaluation for safety on a job site

Conductors and Cables 

• From the cable markings, describe the insulation and jacket material, conductor size and type, number of conductors, temperature rating, voltage rating, and permitted uses

• Determine the allowable ampacity of a conductor for a given application

• Identify the NEC requirements for color coding of conductors

• Install conductors in a raceway system

 

- NCCER Electrical Level 1 Certification

 

Spring CCA

Required Project:  Commercial blue printing - They will on paper install all the required electrical components per the NEC code.Required Project: Commercial Pipe bending. We will bend all the basic bends as needed in the commercial application. We will bend 90^, offset, back to back, three bend, four bend, combination bends.Required Project: Commercial office space, using the NEC code requirements and electrical theory we will bend conduit and run wire in an office space application.Required Project:  Commercial office space, using the NEC code requirements and electrical theory we will bend conduit and run wire in an office space application. Also will make change orders.
