Unit 2:(3 Weeks)

-Discussion importance of time management skills necessary to meet deadlines.

 

-Creating time (Gantt) charts for use during a project

 

-Discuss and demonstrate how to establish and maintain an engineering notebook following engineering industry standards

 

-Introduction to Engineering Design Process

 

-Work on a design team/ engineering team to develop a product or system.

 

 -Collaborate in a team environment to successfully develop a product or system.

 

Unit 3: (2 Weeks)

-Shop safety in the engineering shop/lab

 

-Document hazards found around the lab

 

-Tool familiarization

 

-Proper tool selection for the need

 

-Discussion of how to properly operate and maintain tools

 

-Choose and operate the proper measuring instrument and ensure there is consistency as far as the units required to be used in order to ensure accuracy and precision while taking measurements

 

-Discussion SDS and its importance

 

-Proper disposal of hazardous materials

 

Unit 4 A: (1 Week)

-Basic engineering hand sketching techniques

 

-Discussion of differences between mechanical and computer drafting

 

-Establish a strategy on how to effectively and efficiently draw the object 

 

-Mechanical drafting tools familiarization

 

Unit 4 B: (3 Weeks)

Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD)

-Introduction to AutoCAD (familiarization)

 

-Explain how to create 2D drawings

 

-Show and describe the different views associated with 2D drafting

-Conceptualize, research and design robotics, mechanical or electrical application where all concepts learned in these areas will be implemented in order to solve a problem or improve an existing process

-Work on a design team/ engineering team to develop a product or system.

-Team development, cross training to other team roles, collaborate ideas, and share information using various media.
