*Understand professional standards and employersโ€™ expectations, personal and workplace safety and emergency procedures, and effective problem-solving strategies.

 

*Research local policies and procedures, as well as applicable rules, laws, and regulations related to the practicum.

 

*Investigate various professional standards, expectations, and workplace safety and emergency procedures in the industry.

 

*Identify key skills necessary for successful practicum participation, including effective problem-solving strategies and positive interpersonal skills.

 

*Discuss ethical conduct, effective communication skills, and collaborate with supervising instructors and practicum experience supervisors to understand the checklist and rubric criteria.

 

*Examine the locally created practicum checklist(s) and rubrics for supervisor evaluations and student self-evaluations with parents/guardians and instructional/workplace supervisors.

 

*Recognize the importance of adhering to policies and procedures, demonstrating positive work attitudes and behaviors, effective planning, time management, ethical decision-making, and compliance with applicable rules, laws, and regulations.

*Discuss and demonstrate effective communication, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills during check-ins with supervisors throughout the practicum.

 

*Analyze classical and modern political theories, reviewing works and contributions from theorists such as Plato, Aristotle, Cicero, Machiavelli, Confucius, Hobbes, Locke, Hegel, and Marx, and discussing their findings with supervising instructors.

 

*Review and analyze contributions to modern political science from classical theorists like Polybius, St. Thomas Aquinas, Dante, Bodin, Montesquieu, Kautilya, Ibn Khaldun, Hume, Rousseau, Kant, Smith, Nietzsche, Gandhi, and Keynes.

 

*Examine the U.S. Constitution and constitutional law by reviewing basic information such as the Articles of Confederation, framers of the Constitution, constitutional conventions, separation of powers, checks and balances, ratification, and the amendment process.

 

*Create a classroom Constitution and Bill of Rights that simulates the U.S. Constitution, reflecting an understanding of constitutional principles.

 

*Explore government ethics and formulate a plan to avoid ethical problems in the future, ensuring a commitment to ethical behavior in governmental roles.

*Communicate effectively with others using oral and written skills to ensure clear and professional interactions.

 

*Demonstrate a positive, productive work ethic by performing assigned tasks as directed, showcasing reliability and dedication.

 

*Manage time effectively by prioritizing tasks, following schedules, and focusing on goal-relevant activities to optimize efficiency and results.

 

*Research a problem related to government and public administration, such as a feasibility study or product evaluation, using analytical problem-solving techniques.

 

*Investigate issues associated with the identified problem by collecting primary data through interviews, surveys, and observations.

 

*Prepare a formal report by expressing thoughts logically and sequentially, interpreting and presenting quantitative data in graph format, and creating visuals and handouts to support the presentation.

*Research a problem such as a government and public administration issue, a feasibility study, or a product evaluation using analytical problem-solving techniques.

 

*Investigate the issues associated with the identified problem by gathering relevant data and analyzing contributing factors.

 

*Collect primary data through methods such as interviews, surveys, and observations to obtain firsthand information.

 

*Express thoughts logically and sequentially when preparing a formal report, ensuring clarity and coherence.

 

*Interpret and present quantitative data in graph format within the report to visually represent findings.

*Prepare visuals and handouts to support the presentation, enhancing understanding and engagement.
