Unit 1: Academic Knowledge and Skills for Manufacturing (3 Weeks)

-mathematical skills to estimate  costs

-accurate readings of measuring devices on cost estimates

-measurements such as area, surface area, volume, and perimeter

Unit 2: Workplace Regulations, Safety & Compliance Review (3 Weeks)

-workplace health and safety specified by governmental regulations

-operate welding equipment according to safety standards

-importance of recycling materials used in welding

-PPE

Unit 3: Welding Tools, Equipment, Technology, and Materials (3 Weeks)

-impact of emerging technologies in welding

-automated welding machines such as numerical control, computer numerical control

-troubleshoot equipment

Unit 4: Cutting (6 Weeks)

-safe handling of compressed gases

-cutting processes according to accepted  welding standards

 

Unit 5: Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) (3 Weeks)

-demonstrate skills required to make welds in all positions according to industry-accepted welding      standards

-Rod Types and Rod care 

-Thickness and properties of metals

Fall CCA

cont. Unit 5: Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) (1 Week)

-demonstrate skills required to make welds in all positions according to industry-accepted welding      standards

Unit 6: Fluxed Core Arc Welding (4 Weeks)

-fillet and groove welds

-perform welds in all appropriate positions according to industry accepted welding standards

Unit 7: Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (4 Week)

-fillet and groove welds in all positions

-perform welds on metals such as carbon steel,   stainless steel, pipe, and aluminum according to         industry accepted welding standards

Unit 8: Welding Fabrication Projects and Quality Assurance (6 Weeks)

-engineering drawings to complete an advanced project

-evaluate projects using engineering drawing specifications

-work independently in fabricating welded projects

-work collaboratively with other students to complete a real-world application item

-inspections related to welding codes

-critique and evaluate the weldments of team members

Unit 9: Employability Skills (1.5 Weeks)

-professional  standards employability skills 

-reporting  for duty and performing assigned task

-evaluate systems and operations; identify causes, problems, patterns, or issues; and explore workable solutions or remedies to improve situations

Unit 10: Career & Professional Development (1.5 Weeks)

-employers' expectations to foster positive customer satisfaction

-interviewing skills, flexibility, willingness to learn new skills and   acquire knowledge, self-discipline, self-worth, positive attitude, and integrity

 

Spring CCA

Required Project:

-Materials estimation based on accurate measurement activity.

-Safety in the welding shop test.

-Draw and cut a shape with oxy fuel system

Required Project:

-Joining coupons using various electrodes such as 6011 and 7018 on various thickness metals

-AWS D1.1 Certification: 1F - 4F Welding Position with ½ inch x 4 inch x 10 inch coupon welding with the 7018 1/8th welding rod.

-NOT ALL STUDENTS WILL PASS THE TEST BUT WILL BE GIVEN MULTIPLE OPPORTUNITIES

Required Project:

-1” square tubing metal dice using FCAW

-GTAW: 1F - 4F Welding Position with 1/8th inch - 3/16th inch Coupons welding with Mild Steel

 

AWS D1.1 Certification: 1F - 4F Welding Position with ½ inch x 4 inch x 10 inch coupon welding with the 7018 1/8th welding rod.

 

Skills USA Project

-NOT ALL STUDENTS WILL PASS THE TEST BUT WILL BE GIVEN MULTIPLE OPPORTUNITIES

Required Project:

-Build a cube using sheet metal and welding all the joins with TIG

-GTAW: 1F - 4F Welding Position with 1/8th inch - 3/16th inch Coupons welding with Mild Steel

 

-AWS D1.1 Certification: 1F - 4F Welding Position with ½ inch x 4 inch x 10 inch coupon welding with the 7018 1/8th welding rod.

 

-Skills USA Project-NOT ALL STUDENTS WILL PASS THE TEST BUT WILL BE GIVEN MULTIPLE OPPORTUNITIES
