Unit 2: Functions and Foundations of Marketing • Define the marketing concept • Describe each marketing function and the connection to the marketing concept • Explain how each part of the marketing mix contributes to successful marketing • Illustrate the importance of marketing strategies in the marketing mix • Explain the importance of target markets • Compare and contrast advantages and disadvantages of market segmentation and mass marketing • Distinguish between geographic, demographic, psychographic and behavioral segmentation • Explain the nature of marketing planning • Relate product-mix strategies to meet customer expectations • Define the product life cycle
