Module 1: Introduction to the Plumbing Profession Introduces career options available in today’s plumbing profession. Provides a history of plumbing and discusses the current technology, industries, and associations that make up the modern plumbing profession. (NCCER module Exam). Module 2: Plumbing Safety Discuss the causes of accidents and their consequences. Review the types and proper use of personal protective equipment. Provide instruction in the use of critical safety information conveyed in hazard communication, safety signs, signals , lockout/tagout, and emergency response. Provides an overview in the care and use of the different types of hand and power tools will be used within the plumbing trade. Also provides information needed to select the appropriate tools for different tasks, and reviews tool maintenance and safety issues.

This module introduces some of the basic math used by plumbers in today’s industry. Students will learn how to use basic math to calculate pipe length. Students will apply math concepts such as whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and be given multiple opportunities to describe, demonstrate and apply relevant problem-solving.(NCCER module Exam)
Module 5: Introduction to Plumbing Drawings
Introduces the types of construction drawings typically used in the plumbing trade. This module also explains the relationship among these drawings, and discusses applicable code requirements. Students will learn how to read, interpret, and sketch construction drawings.(NCCER module Exam) |

Additional Activities: Module 1: • Group presentation on the NCCER module sub section. • Group presentation on the the Tx State Board of Plumbing Examiners • Finally students will take the (NCCER module Exam online).
Module 2: • Group presentation on module sub sections • Complete a Job Hazard Analysis Form. • Demonstrate proper use of ladders. • Demonstrate/simulate proper methods of lockout/tagout for energy sources. • Inspect power tools and hand tools to ensure they are safe to use. • Finally students will take the (NCCER module Exam online). | Additional Activities: Module 3: • Group presentation on the NCCER module sub section. • Use layout tools to determine 45- degree pipe offset • Demonstrate proper use of pipe hanger and leveling tools • Demonstrate proper use of electric pipe threader and related tools. • Hand and Power tool demonstration/performance task. • Proper tool selection for a given task. | Additional Activities: Module 3: • Demonstrate the use of cast iron pipe ratchet cutter. Properly join cast iron pipe cast iron fittings • Demonstrate the proper use of soldering tools and steps required to join copper pipe to copper fitting. • Finally students will take the (NCCER module Exam online). Fin | Additional Activities: Module 4: • Measure pipe using the end-to-end, end-to-center, center-to-center, end-to-face, and face-to-face method. • Determine end-to-end dimensions by figuring fitting allowances and thread makeup. • Explain what the metric system is and how it is important in the plumbing trade. • Convert decimals to percentages and percentages to decimals. • Convert fraction to decimals and decimals to fractions. • Finally students will take the (NCCER module Exam online). |
