Unit 1 – Policies and Procedures

• Discuss and practice professional behavior, appropriate work habits and work ethics.

• Use proper grammar.

 

Unit 2 -Safety in the Automotive Shop

• Model safety rules.

• Locate and use PPE and SDS appropriately.

Unit 3 -Service Information, Work Orders and Repair Estimates

• Obtain customer information.

• Independently prepare a work order and create an estimate sheet.

Unit 4 – Computer System Fundamental

• Compare car computer system to the human body system.

• Show where computer sensors and actuators are typically located.

• Explain fundamental sensor functions.

Unit 5 – On Board Diagnostics  Scan tools

• Explain the use of diagnostic scanners.

• Identify various types of scanners.

• Locate the data link connector in the vehicle.

Unit 6 -Computer System Service

• Connect the scanner and retrieve stored diagnostic codes.

• Run data stream tests.

• Interpret scanner fault codes.

• Generate a repair flowchart.

• Service and repair vehicle

 

Unit  - 7 Engine Performance and drivability

•    Follow a performance troubleshooting chart and service bulletins

•  Diagnose no crank no start, misfire, poor fuel economy, dieseling, hesitation and stumbling

• Run advance scan tool test, 

• Complete engine smoke test, compression test, cylinder leak test, vacuum test, cylinder balance test, and vapor lock

•  Analyze power Loss

 

Unit 8– Automotive Careers and ASE Certifications, Career Success

•  Create a resume

•  Practice interview skills

•  Complete Job applications 

•  Research dealerships and independent shops

• Look at entrepreneur opportunities

• Take ASE certification tests towards requirements for Master technician certification and Specialized technician certification 

• Discuss recertification

Unit 9 -Practicum

•  Interpret schematic charts

• Perform preliminary inspection

• Perform  wheel alignment, wheel bearing clean repack or replace

• Administer A/C system service/diagnosis and repair, refrigerant recovery and handing, heating and cooling system diagnosis and repair.
