Students can create their own personal warm-up and cool down based on analysis of  their own body and note its strengths and limitations.

 

Students can recognize major bones, muscles, and joints and how they interact to make movement possible.

Students will enhance their  technical proficiency in Ballet, Modern, Tap, Jazz, and  Musical Theatre.

 

Students will be able to identify similarities amongst genres of dance technique. 

 

The student will be able to communicate through movement and non-verbal communication.

 

The student will be able to identify between literal and abstract movements.

Students will analyze the role that dance plays in various cultures of a particular region or country. 

 

Students will create and demonstrate social dances. 

 

Students will understand and research aspects of various time periods in history and use technology to show their findings.

Students will understand the technical aspects of a production.

The students will enhance their choreography with costumes, props, scenery, sound, and lighting.

Students can create a production timeline. 

Students will understand and know the roles of the various production staff members in creating a dance performance.

 

Students will understand and apply theatre and backstage etiquette, knowledge, and safety rules as a member of an audience, cast, or crew.

Students will refine choreography through rehearsal and revision.

Students will demonstrate performance quality including memorization, projection, focus, clarity, and expressive intent.

Students will understand stage directions, spacing, formations, and transitions.

Students will demonstrate proper performance etiquette and professionalism in rehearsal and performance setting.

Students will write a critique to respond to the work of others and their own.

Students will apply constructive feedback to improve technical execution and artistry.

The student will be able to analyze critiques of various works. 

The student will be able to create a critique using proper dance terminology and various dance concepts.

Students will learn how and what to collect to design a dance portfolio.The student will create a professional resume.

The student will research and explore audition opportunities, audition processes, and audition expectations. 

The student will research and explore various dance careers.

Students will create a dance portfolio to incorporate technology with knowledge of technical skills..
